Only that one occasion,in April through June of 79,did I pursue anything
like a grant for creative writing; it happened shortly after Mother died,but
at the present I cannot recall this period in any considerable detail; but Gregg Mitchell encouraged and assisted me,in fact he cajoled me to go after the prize...
The project got no further than a submission,which in hindsight I cannot
blame anyone for rejecting. A copy of this pretentious document still exists
somewhere among my papers and effects.
